Register Identity Card for 15-year-olds

The Identity Card (IC) is a compulsory document that Singapore citizens and permanent residents must register when they reach the age of 15 (before their 16th birthday).
In addition to the online registration, the enrolment of biometrics is required.
For Singapore citizens and permanent residents who attend government schools or government-aided schools, biometrics enrolment will be done at schools on a designated day.
For Singapore citizens and permanent residents, who:
(a) do not attend government or government-aided school; or
(b) missed their school registration day,
you will be prompted to make an appointment for biometrics enrolment in person at the ICA Building upon the completion of the online application.
You will need to provide original documents and official translations (for documents in languages other than English), as well as copies of the documents for ICA to retain.

ICA does not endorse any private translation companies or entities. Insufficient documentation may result in non-acceptance of your application. You may be required to provide additional documents to support your application.
For Singapore citizens, you will need to provide the following documents in digital images:
- Baptism or religious certificate (if you want to include a religious name)
- Deed poll for a change of name with consent from both parents (and legal guardian(s), if applicable)
- If only one parent/legal guardian consents, he/she must submit an Order of Court empowering him/her to unilaterally change the minor's particulars in the online application, where possible. Alternatively, please submit a copy of the Order of Court and the completed declaration form, to IC Unit’s enquiry form after the application has been submitted.
- Your recent passport-sized, digital, colour photograph taken within the last three months (Please see Photo Guidelines for information on photo requirements).
For Singapore permanent residents, you will need to provide the following documents in digital images:
- Your recent passport-sized, digital, colour photograph taken within the last three months (Please see Photo Guidelines for information on photo requirements)
- The page(s) of your current passport that contains your personal particulars (bearing new name if applicable^).
^Singapore permanent residents with a change of name must first update the name on their current passport and provide a copy of the passport bearing their new name as a supporting document to change the name on their IC.
For Singapore citizens and permanent residents attending government/government-aided schools:
- You will receive the notification to register for your IC two weeks before your biometrics enrolment in school.
- You are required to register your IC online before the appointment date as stated in the notification.
- Bring along your Student Identification Card (Ez-Link Card).
For registrants not attending government/government-aided schools:
- The notification to register for your IC will be sent on your 15th birthday.
- Upon the completion of your online registration, you will be prompted to make an appointment with ICA for your biometrics enrolment.
- Bring along your Student Identification Card (Ez-Link Card) for identity verification.
- S$10 for Singapore citizens
- S$50 for Singapore permanent residents.
For Registrations at Schools
Arrangements will be made for the IC to be collected at the schools, upon completion of registration.
For Registrations at ICA Building
The IC applicant has to enrol his/her biometrics at:

Operating hours are from 8.00am to 4.30pm on Mondays to Fridays. Closed on weekends and Public Holidays.
Upon completion of enrolment of biometrics, the IC applicant can make an appointment the next working day to collect his/her IC at the designated post offices. You can refer to SingPost website to view the list of participating post offices.
The IC will be held for three months from the date of your registration. ICs not collected after three months will be destroyed and no refund of the IC application fee will be given. You will be required to submit a new application.
