Re-Register Identity Card for 30/55-year-olds
Back to top
The Identity Card (IC) is a compulsory document that Singapore citizens and permanent residents must re-register for when they reach the age of 30 (before their 31st birthday), and again when they reach the age of 55 (before their 56th birthday), if they have not been issued with a replacement IC within the last 10 years.
If you are residing overseas during the NRIC re-registration period, you are required to re-register your IC within one year of your return to Singapore.
You will need to provide original documents and official translations (for documents in languages other than English), as well as copies of the documents for ICA to retain.
ICA accepts:
ICA does not endorse any private translation companies or entities. Insufficient documentation may result in non-acceptance of your application. You may be required to provide additional documents to support your application.
For Singapore citizens, you will need to provide the following documents in digital images:
- Baptism or religious certificate to include a religious name
- Deed poll for a change of name
- Marriage certificate (if you want to include your married name)

^Singapore permanent residents with a change of name must first update the name on their current passport and provide a copy of the passport bearing their new name as supporting document to change the name on the Singapore IC.
Eligible Singapore citizens and permanent residents will receive the notification letter from ICA by post. Upon receiving the notification letter, you are required to re-register your IC within one year from the date of the letter at a subsidised fee.
