More Than Half a Million Travellers Cleared Via The Land Checkpoints Ahead of The Good Friday Long Weekend
On 28 March 2024 (Thursday), 510,000 travellers cleared through Woodlands and Tuas Checkpoints, ahead of the Good Friday long weekend, making it the highest recorded number of travellers using the land checkpoints in a single day. The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) observed continuous tailbacks from Malaysia at Woodlands Checkpoint throughout the day, resulting in vehicular queues extending beyond SLE. Tailback was also observed at the Second Link, from Malaysia reaching Tuas Checkpoint.
2. Traffic is expected to remain very heavy today and tomorrow (29 & 30 March) at both land checkpoints with continuous tailbacks from Malaysia’s checkpoints for departing motorists. Arrival traffic is also expected to be heavy on 31 March as travellers who have departed are expected to return to Singapore.
3. Travellers using the land checkpoints this period are thus advised to factor in additional waiting time for immigration clearance. ICA also seeks travellers’ understanding and cooperation to be patient, observe traffic rules, maintain lane discipline, and cooperate with officers on-site when using the land checkpoints.
4. Please follow ICA’s Facebook page for updates on the traffic situation.
