More Than 2.4 Million Travellers Cleared via the Land Checkpoints during Hari Raya Haji Long Weekend
The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) cleared more than 2.4 million travellers through Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints during the recent Hari Raya Haji long weekend from 13 June to 17 June 2024, with 14 June 2024 (Friday) seeing a record high of more than 530,000 travellers in a single day. The record number of travellers, coupled with more car travellers resulted in prolonged traffic tailbacks extending from Malaysia.
2. Amidst the record number of travellers, our officers maintained vigilance to prevent the entry of smuggled, illegal or undesirable persons and goods, and to ensure the safety of travellers. ICA also monitors traffic conditions in real time and dynamically adjusts the deployment of officers to manage the changing traffic situation.
3. Traffic is expected to remain very heavy at both land checkpoints throughout the rest of the June school holidays. Travellers are advised to check the traffic conditions before embarking on their journey and factor more time for immigration clearance. ICA also seeks their understanding and cooperation to be patient, observe traffic rules, maintain lane discipline, and cooperate with officers on-site.
