Use of QR Code for Immigration Clearance at Woodlands and Tuas Checkpoints
Back to top
Travellers arriving and departing Singapore by car, motorcycle, lorry or bus via Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints can use QR codes instead of passports for a faster and more convenient immigration clearance.
Before reaching the checkpoint:
Travellers create a profile and generate an individual or group QR code using MyICA mobile app, which can be downloaded from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
At the checkpoint:
Travellers can self-scan the generated QR code instead of presenting passports at the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) for car, motorcycle, lorry, bus, and bus passenger lanes.
All travellers* arriving and departing via Singapore land checkpoints by car, motorcycle, lorry or bus can present the QR codes generated via the MyICA mobile app in lieu of passports, except:
- First-time foreign visitors entering Singapore; and
- Those re-entering Singapore using a different passport from their last visit to Singapore.
Travellers using passports that have not been used for entry into Singapore before will have to present their passport for immigration clearance. They will be able to use QR code for immigration clearance on their subsequent trips.
For travellers arriving and departing via Singapore land checkpoints by automated immigration lanes, travellers need to ensure that their biometric identifiers have been enrolled with ICA or MOM. You may refer to ICA website for further information.
*All travellers include Singapore citizens, Permanent Residents, Long-Term Pass i.e., Foreign Identification Number (FIN) Holders and foreign visitors.
Use the MyICA mobile app to generate an individual or group QR code. Instead of presenting your passport, scan the QR code during immigration clearance.
What you need to generate a QR code in the MyICA mobile app:
- Mobile phone with MyICA mobile app downloaded from the official App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
- Passport or Singpass (for Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents and Long-Term Pass Holders).
